About Samantha

MY WORKING LIFE . . .

I am eager to provide exceptional design services to my clients worldwide.

All through my educational years, I was pushed to pursue the “academic” subjects, such as math and the sciences, despite being talented in the art and design departments. A few years down the line, I found myself graduating university with a BSc in Materials Science (an engineering-based degree). This led to a career working as a manufacturing engineer for a luxury British car brand, where I was able to use my technical skills and feed my practical side. As great as this was, there was always something missing, and I knew I wasn’t doing something I loved or that I was passionate about.

After a couple of years of forcing myself to do a job I had little interest in, I packed up my engineering suitcase and started my career in interiors. Since that day, I have not once looked back! I set up my own interior design business in the United Kingdom and have since worked for friends and family as well as a number of different clients. My clients have varied massively, from a couple newly in their retirement to single working professionals to busy families.

My background in engineering has played a huge part in my success in interior design. Being able to interact with architects, builders and other trades on a more technical level has certainly worked in my favor and makes me far more efficient when completing projects. I believe this is something that really sets me apart from other interior designers.

I have recently relocated to the Lake Norman, North Carolina area and cannot wait to turn Samantha Humphreys Studio into the place people go for exceptional interior design services. I would love to hear from you, so please contact me if you would like to redesign your home!

MY STYLE . . .

I have a slight obsession with Nordic design and am a true believer in less is more. I love working with neutral colors, using natural materials, layering with different textures and creating simplistic but interesting designs. Having spent the majority of my life in and around the Cotswolds (you must google it if you haven’t seen it before) I also have a keen eye for the classic country cottage look.

I have also had the privilege of traveling to some amazing countries and always use there opportunities to explore the local interiors and gather inspiration.

THINGS I LOVE. . .

  • Anything interiors related (obviously)
  • Travel (with special shout outs to Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Greece)
  • Sports and fitness
  • Animals
  • Food

MY WORKING LIFE . . .

I don’t want to bore you with my whole life story, but here is brief (but actually not so brief) outline of my working life so far. . . .

All through my educational years I was pushed to pursue the “academic” subjects, such as math and the sciences, despite being talented in the art and design departments. A few years down the line I found myself graduating university with a BSc in Materials Science (an engineering based degree). Yay me!

This led onto a career working as a manufacturing engineer for a luxury British car brand, where I was able to use my technical skills and feed my practical side. As great as this was, there was always something missing and I knew I wasn’t doing something I loved or that I was passionate about.

After a couple of years of forcing myself to do a job I little interest in, I packed up my engineering suitcase and started my career in interiors. Since that day I have not once looked back.

I set up my own interior design business in the UK within a few months and I was away. Since then I have worked for friends and family as well as a number of different clients. My clients have varied massively, from a couple newly in their retirement, to single working professionals, to busy families.

My background in engineering has actually played a huge part towards my success in interior design. Being able to interact with architects, builders and other trades on a more technical level has certainly worked in my favour and makes me far more efficient when completely projects. I believe this is something that really sets me apart from other interior designers.

I have recently relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina and cannot wait to start my business stateside. Calling all homes in need of a touch of Samantha in the Charlotte region, I’d love to hear from you so please do get in contact!

Thank you so much for doing the most incredible job on my bedroom. I had a vision of what I wanted my bedroom to look like but just didn’t know where to start when it came to finding furniture, accessories or even think about piecing it altogether.
After chatting with you I knew you totally got my vision, and then after receiving my mood board I was so happy with the look of everything I was excited to have you order and put it altogether.
The end result is even better than I could of imagined, you were super easy to deal with and the whole experience was hassle free.
Thank you for your beautiful work I absolutely love my bedroom and just feel so relaxed in it. Your attention to detail and beautiful nature made it such a pleasure to work with you and I would highly highly recommend you to anyone who wants any size project doing. Thank you so much, you’re amazing!
